Bald Hill Dam Releases Up, Inflows Down
KCSi-T.V. News Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) -- The releases from Bald Hill Dam in Valley City on Thursday (March 18th) morning were at 1,890 cfs, with inflows at 3,716 cfs.
With cooler temperatures in the forecast, causing a slower snow melt, the lower inflows are expected to allow more water to be released.
The goal is to lower the reservoir to the targeted 1,257 feet.
As reported at the City Commission meeting Monday (Mar 15th) no sandbagging calls are going out at this time. Sandbag Central will be at the North Dakota Winter Show, South Exhibit Building.
The flood warning continues for the Sheyenne River at Valley city, from late Thursday night to Friday evening. At 10:00 am Thursday the stage was 11.5 feet. Minor flood stage is 15.0 feet. The Sheyenne River is expected to rise to near flood stage after midnight Thursday. This forecast was adjusted based on updated information from the corps of engineers. Crest near flood stage will be due to local runoff. At 15.0 feet, flood warning stage...Minor. Hwy 10 in valley city is flooded. Actions are taken to protect the power plant.
